The Challenge
Every January, the tennis world descends upon Melbourne for the first Grand Slam of the year. The challenge was to break away from standard sports promo tropes and capture both the grueling intensity of the tournament and the unique, wild spirit of Australia. We needed a campaign that felt less like a traditional sports broadcast and more like a high-stakes, cinematic journey.
The Core Concept: Open for Adventure
Leaning into the unique setting of the tournament, we developed the concept Open for Adventure. We treated the Australian Open not just as a sporting event, but as an epic expedition.
Drawing visual and narrative inspiration from classic Indiana Jones-style adventures, I led the visual direction to turn the tournament bracket into a treacherous map. The top seeds weren't just playing tennis—they were braving grueling rallies, coming face-to-face with determined opponents, and hiking through tough draws to claim the coveted trophy. The visual language blended rugged adventure textures, cinematic lighting, and dynamic motion to promise viewers two weeks of pure, adrenaline-fueled drama on FOX Sports Asia.
Execution & Leadership
As the Lead Designer, I spearheaded the translation of this adventurous concept into a massive, multi-platform asset ecosystem. I personally designed the master visual identity, ensuring the cinematic, treasure-hunt aesthetic translated seamlessly from high-end video promos down to clean broadcast graphics.
To handle the immense output required for a two-week Grand Slam coverage schedule, I managed a team of motion designers who assisted in versioning and adapting the core assets across various regions and formats.

The Main Tournament Promo Video: An epic, cinematic trailer setting the stage for the "Open for Adventure" narrative from Rod Laver Arena.
Individual Match & Daily Promos: Dynamic, fast-turnaround assets highlighting daily head-to-heads as the "expedition" progressed.
On-Air Broadcast Graphics & Social Media Kits: Custom lower-thirds, transitions, templates, and real-time social assets designed to keep up with the adrenaline rush of the tournament.
The result was a thrilling, unforgettable visual campaign that elevated FOX Sports Asia’s coverage, turning the first Grand Slam of the year into the ultimate summer adventure.
